  • Blowing up the Truck..... Loosing trailer wheels... AHHHHHHHH

What a weekend this is been so far....

I bought a Butty Trailer down in Feltwell about 230 miles from my house...
As the Surf was going strong as ever I decided to pick it up on friday...

So at 11:30 in the morning I set off Storm in the back and coffee in the flask towards Norfolk.....

The Surf was doing wonderfull not using to much diesel and driving a dream as usual....
I stopped to let the dog run a while and back on the road, I rang the lady that I was about an hour away....

The 6 miles off my destination the heat on my poor Surf went straight up to boiling point....
I stopped in a pub carpark straight away and opened the bonnet....
I waited for it to cool down a little and took the radcap off, the force thatmy radiator was blown empty with was unreall...
Even Stormforce who I was on the phone too jumped out of his chair....

The water was reall rusty, no oil so I decided that some muck had just blocked the stat....
I only flushed the system a few weeks ago, new cap, new stat.....

Anyway filled up and drove to the butty van no problem....
There I wired some electrics straight into my tail light and took the stat out like I did last time....

Then I was on the way back....
Hills everywhere but the surf had no probs what so ever towing the van....
Back on the A14 I was making good progress...
The 150 miles from home in the dark heat struck again......
No emergency lane big roundabout ahead....
boiling like hell and all that was in there was coolant and 2 litres of water....

I managed to fill up and make it to the services just around the corner....
I walked the dog, eat something, fed the dog on sausages and slept a little, 2 hours or so later I set off again.....
This time I only went 3 miles and boiling point was reached, (faster then my kettle... )
So I pulled off the A14 into a little services...... From there I tried to arange recovery but I aint with the AA or RAC or anyone for that matter....

So Richard found a lad that came out the next day at about 3pm to pick me up...
He rocked up in a 2.8TD Iveco rated for 3.5ton ehhhhh..... Surf 2.2 Trailer 2.5 and me half a ton oops.....
    He was not happy lol

Off we went anyway £250 cash and off we went.....

    This is at a stop...

Anyway then about 20 mins from my house my luck struck again......
a wheel came off the trailer...... 3 bolts sheered off....
The wheel jumped over the road over the middle into the other side off the motorway and struck a speeding golf....
Bumper come off, rad buggred etc....
my recovery fella quick went off with being about 2.5 ton overweight and dropped the surf at my house and gave my dog to my better half....

He parked in low 4wd the mupped... lucky he has not wound up the diff..

Anyway another recovery vehicle and another £251.88 later the trailer is at my mum in low and I finally got home at 22:30...
He damaged the body a little getting it on and off as well

Lucky nobody was hurt exept for my bank account....
What a weekend it has been...
Gonna get the trailer sorted 2mo and get that working need money now...

So I am on the look out for 3ltr ASAP so if u got one going not to expensive please let me know...

Think I am gonna rip the good bits off the Surf and then weigh her in 2mo seen as the price is so heigh at the moment....

Anyways I better get on with it now Hope everyone is having a better weekend then mine......
One day at the time I guess..
