  • fan overide switch

hi guys one last problem than i promise to leave you all alone (for a while at least) since swapping the ecu from my old truck to try and rectify the no overdrive problem (now sorted) my aux fax INFRONT of the rad is perminatley on even when cold system has been "burped" etc and even taken back to stevo (engine co) all ok after tested the termostat switch whish is working has come to the desiscision that the switched earth is at fault any ideas at present i have removed the fuse but at minimum i want to have the fan controlled by a switch on the dash until i can sort the earth issue out

how would i do this and would it have to be relayed wiring diagram would be great hopefully want to sort before the weekend as suposed to be in the lakes camping

sorry for the long thread and to be a pain again have you guys thought of some sort of bat signal

    cheers jon

Check the connection to that temp switch, and check the wire hasn't been damaged anywhere else. To manually make it come on, all you need to do is make the circuit open circuit. Ground that wire, and the fan should turn off.

thanks matt tried that fan still running somthing wierd going on think i still have an earth problem

im thinking for a temp fix as its better than nothing to disconnect from temp switch and run a switch from dash and then reconnect to temp switch when i have more time to play about with it

new earth straps on both batteries and alt and all other earths reseated after a rub down with wet and dry and smeared with coper grease

        any other ideas mat (anyone)

        thanks

The other way you could do it is to hardwire it into a supply directly, via a switch and relay. You'd have to omit the temp switch from the circuit though, if you wish to keep it simple. Just use the diagram that's on here somewhere for the spotlight wiring. Same setup.

Edit: If you do it that way, don't forget to disconnect any existing wiring that it's connected to.

Might one just mention that there is a fine line between highlighting the fact that the forum relies on subscriptions and just plain old badgering. Once is bringing something to someones attention. Twice is not.
