Alarm insurance probs

G'day all,

I'm trying to obtain insurance for my 2.4td Auto Surf Japan import which actually shows 2500 on the log book??

Has anyone had problems getting insurance without having a Thatcham cat1 or 2 approved alarm fitted first? Many insurance companies have refused to inure me with out it.

Help, I'm dieing to get out in the beast.

Give these people a call,they do not specify alarm or immobiliser.

they'll still insure you but with no theft cover... you can get an alarm nice and cheap though.

I posted a thread the other day about an offer from Clifford alarms. Search for the thread "security" in the General section. Their alarms are Cat 1 or 2 but I'm not sure if it's a good deal or not as I've not researched it..

Best price i found for a Thatcham Approved Cat 2 Immobiliser was from £89 installed if you have no luck getting insurance without one.

( At last, have been able to offer advice, i'm on a roll keep the questions coming ).

Got mine through direct line, although until i get a cat 1 or 2 fitted it's not insured against theft!!
And lets face it, who in there right mind would want to steal a perfect condition stunning looking beast like a surf??

lol think i better get looking for that alarm!!!!
