  • Anyone live between Kendal and Carlisle??

    Does anyone have a corner of a field or garden where we can pitch our tent for a night on our way to Scotland? 2 well behaved (mostly) adults, and a few labradors (who will be well controlled and can sleep in the truck!!)

    Or do you know or anywhere dog friendly in that area?

    We'll be heading up the M6 so any reasonable detour is acceptable!

    Can pay in beer tokens, or surf fiddling from the surf doctor

    Oh yeah - and if it makes a difference we'll be in the Bullet!!

      Awh bless you - it's a bit to far for our first night stop, but depending upon the route we take we might pop by and say hello!!

        Feel free. We're tucked in next to the Crinan Canal and can happily lend bikes if you wish to explore the area. The labs can runa round with my two!

          They will love that!! I'll be in touch. We do have a very long journey up to nearly Inverness so need to work out how much social time we will have!

            What date/night I'm 90 past the border and you will drive past my door on your way to Inverness. If I'm not at Drumclog you are welcome here plenty garden for the tent for Tony, and you can have the spare room {only got a single in it}

            Field on our door step for the dogs to get a run.

            If I am at Drumclog you will pass within 5 miles of it on your route up and its only 60 past the border. So maybe Drum on the way up would suit.

              Thanks mate, but looks like we are sorted with a place at Penrith, just short of Carlisle - maybe we could stop with you for morning coffee next day though and say hi??

              PS - I'd have gone for the tent though - I LOVE camping!!

                    Hi Linda
                    I live whitehaven on the coast in cumbria I could recomend a good camp site?
                    Spring Lea in Alonby right on the coast about 20 miles from were I live I go there on the on the odd weekends when I am off, it has a pub and a swimming pool and dogs are welcome. To get there come off the M6 at Penrith and follow the signs to Workington on the A66 right into Workington then at the traffic lights turn right and follow the road and you will pick up the road to Maryport/Alonby go right through Maryport (A596 this road will also take you to Carlsile) then as you go out of Maryport you will pass a school on your right just after that there is a junction go left follow this road
                    and you will see the sea keep on going for about 4-5 mile and you will come to Alonby go through Alonby you will come to a bridge in the middle of Alonby once over the bridge follow the road about 400 meters on the right there is a junction turn here and you are there. and when you want to carry on to Scotland come back out and turn right and follow the road to Siloth here you can pick up the road for Carlsile. Here is there web site www.springlea.co.uk

                    Hope this helps Steve<*)))><
