Were the tests the same on both the samples?

    Were both samples similar?

I went round to see Muj at lunch time

    Popped out back later!
i have never recieved the sample from muj.the sample never arrived at,or is at,or was never delivered to my house.a postie neighbour assures me no record of posting to my address for the last 6 weeks exists.

Just spat tea on my monitor again... That one was a real beer and popcorn thread!

im not being vindictive, but waste and its treatment/consequences are a subject i find at length disgusting (i dont bake my own poo anymore ) yet fascinating.
        Too much information...

im wondering if the enviroment agency hold the same view
As in "Do the EA know about 'alleged-biodiesel bloke', or does the Environmental Agency permit exist in the same phase-space as the sample?"

Or am I being overly cynical?

          • right this is what i got.

esther's ,didnt (ie cant) do them, but the specific gravity was above 5
flash point of above 101 c was lower at 89 c
after the disasterous settling i didnt do the carbons and ash,cos i couldt see the point of deducing carbon content from something dirtier than wvo.
water content was high, above 490 ppm,but still below consent of 500 ppm.

the "ACID" value (standards peoples words) was measured with a ph meter and gave a ph of high 7's (7.8)
couldnt find any methyls or ethyls, which leads to the conclusion

            A. the reaction took place in a pressure vessel and all the volatiles are trapped within the catalyst/vessel

            B. were not added in the first place, and no reaction was initiated

there was a lot of water in this sample, and a fair bit of phosphorus (above 10mg/litre),which i detected with a much bigger dose of reagent and a smaller sample of "fuel"

            C. the suspended solids content was enormous. I had trouble filtering the final 100 ml through a 25 micron whatman glass fibre filter paper.when i had eventually filtered the "fuel" i baked it in the thermal scales and it caught fire !!
from "half way analysis" i can deduce that the total suspended solids concentration (tss) was over 800 parts per million + - 50 ppm

i just think that this is either badly processed bio or plain wvo that has not even been filtered.
the problem is isclarsis says that the unit they operate from is full of the necessary equipment for processing bio

bottom line is i wouldnt use it in my car,it is liable to clog the filter(s)
destroy pump seals/fittings and cause long term issues with the fuel injection system.
the blurb from the website also states that its not suitable for cars built before 1994.....which means i couldnt use it anyway.
            nuff said.......................... .................

            snake oil any one ?

            • From your results, I would lean towards the unfiltered/poorly filtered WVO.

Given the high water content, the pH figure is possibly less informative than an acidity value by titration.

The flammability of the high level of susp.solids is the killer - if it was poorly processed WVO, any suspended solids should be mainly glycerols, which IIRC have a flashpoint somewhat higher than your information suggests.

              So, no, I think not...

                • normally with my other customers, i've just given them the sales talk and they have gone for it. but like someone said, i'm in the tigers den now. I just can't wait for you guys to see that my biodiesel is of good quality and not snake oil.

sorry muj but snake oil would be preferable rather than the stuff gwh had as a sample

oh well the quest for cheaper fuel carries on
Only Toyota can get you out of shite
