  • Kickdown /Overide

    Hi All
    Another question

After our overheating problems being rectified with a new radiator and external ATF cooler fitted we headed to cornwall (Pentewan) with the caravan, kids, bikes and a boot loaded with heavy dive gear.

The Surf pulled without any heating problems up hills and round country lanes for the full 320 miles. The only problem we found was to keep the damn thing going at 60 without it continually dropping to a lower gear, with only the faintest touch on the pedal it seemed to drop a gear and rev up to 3000+. I eventually found that by towing at around the 70 mark it stayed locked in the higher gear the revs stayed around the 2200 and it pulled up hills without any dropping of gears and no great loss of speed.
Can this kickdown be altered so as to be able to tow at 60 without the constant gear dropping high rev problems.

    Cheers

It should stay locked up above 55mph.
If it's like mine you will find the speedo is 10mph out mine reads 65mph when I'm actually doing 55mph.

There is a thread on here somewhere about holding lockup at lower speeds.

Edit: Is the ECT button is in the correct position?
