  • heating oil instead of veg oil?

    Hi all.
Just wondering if anybody knows if you can use heating oil for the home instead of veg oil, as fuel in surfs.
I can get it for around 40p litre.
Will it work at all or is this a silly idea?

I think it may be a silly idea, but will let someone clever step in and say something, heating oil is kerosine - not sure that it's safe to use 100% kerosine in a diesel engine......

its illegal to use it as road fuel as far as i,m aware, although if its 35 sec stuff it would be better than kerosene as fuel for a surf.

Its no different to using Red deisel in the eyes of the law, and also due to price of derv, I've noticed Plod and HMC&E are VERY interested in any diesel 4x4, van and lorry at the moment.

One has heard a mix or blend of cheap engine oil and heating oil seems to work, not sure of the mix but its largely heating oil. but plod and customs and excise will go to town on you, i have heard your first offence will cost you £500 to get your vehicle back.

As above they will slaughter you, but heating oil (kerosine) and a bit of normal oil is diesel

You want Gas Oil, it's heating oil but the same as diesel, but red bar more sulfur which will not hurt your engine, I have heard it's a £500 fine for a first time person being caught, so do the maths and it maybe worth the risk as long as you have a source that will not be noticed.

they base the FINE on the mileage of the car at the time of the offence, new car = low fine 12yr surf 100,000mls = alot of dosh, on that happy note goodnight .
