  • MOT Failure!!

Well guys, truck failed its MOT yesterday.
    Both wiper blades (now changed)
    Both Rear anti-roll-bar BUSHES.

    Advisory.....
    Both front Anti-roll-bar Bushes
    Both front wheel bearings
    Both front shocks

    So .........
Need to do all the arb bushes. How hard is that? Where can i get them, Should i get some form of uprated bushes?

Need front shocks, so should i change them all? What would you recomend?

    Any ideas on prices anyone.
Looks like i have a lot to do, But i'm off to Wembley now (to see Bristol City)
will catch up with replies this evening, if i'm sober enough!
    Thanks in advance fellas!

rear arb bushes are easy enough both the droplinks on the chassis and the ones on the axle. Fronts - the ones on the chassis are easy, the droplink ones ain't difficult but you'll probly need a 14mm deep reach socket to get to the droplink bolts (on the underside of the lower wishbone).

Front shocks should be pretty simple. Never done my own bearings so can't comment on them, but don't sound too hard from what i've read on here.

Mind you, quite a few here take the even cheaper option, especially with the rear - 'what rear ARB ?' ie remove it entirely.

Unfortunately, he doesn't have that opportunity at the moment. If he removes them now, it'll stand a chance of failing due to them being part of the failure/advisory. He can whip them off once it has passed though.

When you say ARB bushes, you are referring to the ones on the end of the arms where they mount to the chassis? If so, I think I still have a full set, front and back, of the Milners ones here you can have. (Still in the packets untouched). Got them when I took the A.R.B's off, just incase I ever decided to refit them. Never did though. I'll double check I still have them, (I never bin owt, so should have), and let you know for definite.

Thanks for all the info guys.
Great day out yesterday (shame about the result) watching football from the 'prawn sandwich brigade' point of view. (treated like royalty all day)

As for the truck....... suspension is only an advisory so i can get to that in a few weeks.
What i really need to sort is the ARB bushes. These are listed as "nearside inner rear anti-roll bar rubber bush deteriorated resulting in excessive movement"
                          Ditto for the "offside"
Does this answer your question Matt????
(thanks for the link Trev, have stuck it in my favourites for now)
                          All help gratefully received

sound like the ones on the axle, four bolts to undo, remove the brackets, pull the old bushes off, put the new bushes on, refit the brackets, bolt it all back up.

Only thing to watch for is shearing the bolts, a couple of good doses of WD40 is advisable beforehand.

Does it sound like Matt has the right or wrong ones??
Need to get it done fairly pronto as its her daily driver!
