What year is your truck?

1991/2 was the change-over year to electronic speedos.
if yours has a pin for the needle to rest on at zero, then it's electronic and the speed sensor is suspect, or the tiny black box fitted to the rear of the speedo binacle.
No pin for the needle, then the speedo is cable driven and may have broken.





Alternatively, you could be stuck somewhere in the space/time continuum and you will remain the same age until it is restored!

just went and checked the dial face which appears to have a little pin for the needle to sit on at zero ! so this means there's a cable involved ? i know nothing but think its strange that the mile an hour reading/needle still works ! in previous cars of mine (escort/corsa) both mph and odometer stopped reading when the cable broke from i think the gearbox ! would that be the same on a surf ?
