  • Astra 1.4 OHC 1995 Thermostat, HELP

Yes I know its not a surf, but you guy’s know everything (well I hope so)

I have a problem with my daughters car, 1.4 P reg Astra, its overheating, there is no coolant flowing through the radiator and the pump has been changed so it either a air lock, which I have been trying for the past hour to remove with no success, or the thermostat is no good, if it is the thermostat then where is it I cant seem to find it anywhere, does anyone know of its location or what the hell I’m doing wrong.

Any help greatly appreciated before she wants to borrow the Surf

It sounds like either a blockage or the stat is jammed shut. I would personally buy a new stat and fit it first. Give the system a flush and refill whilst you're at it.

Unbelievably, the stat is behind the timing belt:

Thanks all, and yes you are right, had to remove airfilter, timing cover and cambelt to get to it, its jammed solid shut, got a new one for £4.99 and all is well.

          Thanks All
