i like the idea of surfs becoming worthless my next one will be cheaper im not looking to make money ,
my 3rd gen was real cheap

dont do really big mileage so not to worried about fuel ,

I used to run a bike for my 12 miles to work, for the economy. But I laid it up for the winter then flogged it rather then re MoT, Tax and insure it thinking it wasn't saving me anything if I had to keep paying for that lot and Veg was cheap . . . wished I'd kept it now.

As for Surfs being worthless, that's only relevant if you're selling, if you need/want a 4x4 they're a bargain.

i can see everyones point here,but all i'm saying is,the surf is our family car and we love it,but if it gets to the point of becoming to expensive to run it's just not nice to know it won't be worth much

Fortunately I am lucky enough to own 2 vehicles. One I use for everyday use and the Surf for weekend pleasure, transporting heavy / large / mucky stuff, etc.

I don't smoke or gamble so I can afford to put that money away to keep the Surf. I only paid £2500 for it and I've lost that amount on cars I've owned for 3 or 4 years in the past, so if I sold it for £1500 I'd still be a lot better off than my normal loss on cars.

I put £20.00 worth of diesel in every weekend and sometimes it fills the tank as the Surf hasn't been used much. Where can you get so much enjoyment for £20.00?

Until my financial situation becomes so bad that I can no longer run 2 vehicles I'm holding on until the bitter end!

i have been looking any other 4x4 hopefully LPG
or buy an engine for the surf and make it LPG
i can not keep fueling my surf up at these prices
it may cost to do but iam sure i will save that in the first year

but the thing is i do NEED a 4x4

Bought a galaxy to do the towing of my tin snail so the surf is now just a plaything can't run it everyday as the fuel is to expensive but i wont get rid of it paid out a bit to get it going again
I maybe one of the few who live where they work but living in rural england has it's own pitfalls with public transport but we all need are cars/surfs to get about
Starting to look at making bio diesel here so might get to use it myself
