I think even the gestapo may show some leniency in that event.

All those items are a legal requirement in France, except the stuff that ruins your tyres, but you can be fined if stopped and found to be without it.

In France you also need to keep your driving licence,V5, insurance and MOT certs on board too, Although when I was there, I kept copies in the car and the Originals at home, safe.

You don't technically need a warning triangle for France but you seem to need two for Spain so I guess you should take one if you're going to the Pyrenees and it kind of averages out.
