they are an easy fit really depending on how good a job u want lol
I am an radio amateur lol I used to fit Amateur, taxi radio's and CB's for a local shop as well...

what do you mean by ground plane? well a mate of mine has been handed a few cbs and he gave me one and said he will also buy me a few drinks to fit them to my truck, his volvo and and astra van as well, but i've had a quick go with mine first and it doesn't seem to go far or pick up from far and i read somewhere bout using a swr meter to tune the antenna. what do i do with a swr meter?

just conect the antenna ground to the chassis one big ground plane then lol
But wont matter to much with a cb if u only using 4 watt, if u use a burner it will make a difference.
an swr meter is just to mesure ur swr lol an atu wut be to tune ur antenna but just get a antenna resonant to 27meg.
u gonna do a proper job? wire the power off the battery?
and put a perm. antenna mount on?
or mag mount?

also check ur coax and if ur PL's are soldered on well as this makes a big differance.

i done a proper job and got a 2meter antenna and permanently mounted it, but couldn't hear my mate and he could not hear me if were were more than 500 yards away

that is cus 2mtr is on uhf/vhf and 27meg is on hf so it will only work like a dummyload.
what antenna is it?
I might swap it with ya for a proper cb one lol

I have a 100 watt burner i get down to brighton from croydon my swr is 1.1 i use a 6 inch mag mout with a pre swr'd arial, so it dont do bad...there are some real mupets on there though
