OK, I got a Surf, now I am one of you guys. It was a toss up between a Surf and a Vauxhall Frontera. The Surf is a lot more powerful and better built so won hands down. Where is the best place for insurance? I have tried a few sites, but most don't even acknowledge the Surf's existance.

I am with adrian Flux .......also try lifesure as they used to sponcer the site ........If you plan to off road steer clear of the big ones like the little red telephone' You've arrived on a rather special night. It's one of the master's affairs.'

Adrian Flux seem to be most popular. A-plan and Footman James also do them I think. I always used Lifesure and they were good value, but I don't think they cover offroad use and, personally, I don't like them anymore due to a few issues when I changed vehicle.

I've had a Surf for 5 years - you really should have got a Front Terror - they are so much better. No really, they are - honest.
Where in South Wales????
Oh, Lifesure!Another member of the 'A' team

Andrew - you're getting confused with Astras - they are the ones to get, not the Frontal Lobe.....
Er - I'm with Direct Line, so never drive off road, nor do I have any mods........
Welcome to the best site on the web by the way - so, tell us more about you and your new purchase then.......theres lovely!Too old to care, young enough to remember

I'm actually with direct line at the moment, haven't contacted them about changing yet.
Is there anything I need to know about the vehicle? I've not driven a 4X4 before. I wanted to get one as I have been getting quite good at getting my car stuck in mud recently. I will use it for towing a caravan, and mostly on rally fields which tend to be quite soggy. I don't anticipate doing much in the way of serious off roading, but will get it into some muddy fields.
Do the hubs need to be locked manually on the Surf or are they automatic? I expect I will have a few more questions to ask once I have picked it up too.
I hope the steering is light as someone has put a little sports car steering wheel on it. I will have to look around the breakers for something more suitable.
