lights prob

Hi all,
ty for info on upgrading rear shocks all done job great nice new shiny wheels to and new boots from trax. back to the matter in hand driving home last nite first time in the dark in ages and noticed drivers side front light not working thought was just the bulb so bought nerw one today and fitted only when i tryed it out i get normal side light dif bulb then turn stick again and no light but the when mean beam switched on it works fine but still no dipped light other side works great on ever thing could any one help on how i go about trying to find the prob and poss problems i could be facing.

just had the same thing (2 hours before mot !!!)
there is a plug which attaches to the back of the bulb,with 3 wires to it.one of the wires gives you dipped beam,the other 2 give you main beam. and one is a feed
to get it through the mot i ran a wire from the dipped beam cable that worked to the other one that didnt.after the test was done i traced the fault back to a dodgy lamp relay.it takes a little time but that worked for me.
