  • Vehicle Frustration

Came of nights this morning with the day planned out.
    Sleep.
Swap front and Back tyres on the escort.
Change front lower suspension bushes on the Surf.
Fit temporary fog light to Surf as bumper still in shed (fiberglass needs rubbing down and painting, cause I'm a tight ass and wasn't going to buy replacement when work has a sand blaster to get rid of the rust, problem came when filling in all the holes/back bumper)

Spent over an hour trying to find the jacking points on the Escort, then trolley jack won't fit under so had to find my old one. Went to drive her up to ramps only to find that her spoiler is too low.aaaaaaarrrrrrrrrgggggggggg hhhhhhhh.

Raise n/s of the escort, spent 1/2 hour fighting with locking wheel nuts and jamed nuts (thank god for air tools). Then find that due to the car having after market alloys (hence locking wheel nuts) the fronts and rears are not interchangeable (now need to get new front tyres cause they are borderline legal)

Spend 5 minutes jacking up and axle standing Surf (see extra height has more advantages than you think) off comes both front wheels no problem (I always add a little copper grease to the threads before I do the wheel nuts up). Then spend the next three hours (and every trick I can think of) trying to get that top nut on the shock undone (if I ever change the front shocks again it will be with an angle grinder). At this point I realise I'm doing the lower shock and there is just enougth room there to do it without removing the top.
Half hour later lower bushes replaced, tyres on, and a nice lump on my head from a falling crowbar (don't ask).

And my family think I enjoy working on the cars

Yep, cause they're aftermarket, and have slightly different recesses, trust me I tried.
