  • CV boot fitting time

    How long should it take for your average mechanic to fit a outer CV boot ?
    Want know before i start calling garages just in case they try to take extract the urine...

      me too i know nothing about what i was doing
      but its just soooo easy
      try it your self it took me 2 hours with cv reboot and all bearings regreased up
      easy i will never pay for it again cost me 30 quid a side with top grease 2 cv boots
      let me know what prices ya get from a garage
      am not die lex sick its you that cant read mate

        Change both as yo have it off anyway.

        Easy way to remove half shaft bolts is to use a 17mm ring spanner against the frame rail and turn the wheel to release each one in turn 6 total. They can take a bit of moving if they have been on a while.

        Axle stands under crossmember then use a trolley jack under the wishbone. Move jack bit at a time till you get the right height/angle to slid the shaft out.

        cv boots have to sit in the ridges on the half shafts be careful not to damage them sliding them on.

        Tri bearing has a circlip outter boot goes on from inner side.
