  • Tyre pressures?

    I run my surf on 35's and was wondering what pressures my tyres should be at I have muds on the back and A/Ts on the front. Cheerz everyone

    Dunno, but if you prefer life going forwards, I'd put the ATs on the back

    Why the different tyres?

      i tried the muds on the front and the A/Ts on da back once but the front kept loosing grip on the rounabouts in me local town(there covered in diesel and usually very wet and not at all level) so i decided to keep the A/Ts back on the front, i keep them on 30 but they just look a bit low to me, recently had to seal them all though because they were leaking past the rims going down over 3 weeks or so. Cheerz for the stickers im i wnt be home till sunday night after i leave for work in the morning but if the weather is good i shall try n get them on with photos on monday!

        Yeah but its always safer to have the front lose grip before the back. Get yerself another pair of matching tyres?

          I fort it was best to lose the back? as i was told in college you can regain the back easier than regaining the front, i cant rele afford tyre right now as ive just had to pay for a new head and new gearbox, well ill pay for the gearbox on sunday when i collect it from Tony

            Nope. If you drive a sportscar and are a trained racing driver, maybe. If you're Joe Public (nearly! ) in something with iceberg-like handling (Surf!)then understeer is always safer, as is front wheels locking first under braking. The last thing you want is your rears locking first cos then you're going backwards and you are no longer in control of where you're going.

            Still, its not an issue really cos if you KNOW you're going fast enough to lose it, you're going too fast, yeah?

                Slightly tail out you mean. Bit different to backwards at 40mph!

                Used to have a Mk1 MR2, and it was awesome on opposite lock but about 1/3 of the weight of a surf, AND that bit hard once when I hit a bit of diesel coming hard out of a roundabout. Think rolling backwards towards the hard shoulder ar 50mph with traffic bearing down on you.

                But hey, I'm not a driving god like you.

                  I'm with YOR on this one, much rather have the better tyre on the front although I know conventional wisdom would say otherwise, living life sideways is fun, one of the endearing qualities of the surf, sidesways while going slow unlike my car, scarey speeds needed to get it loose

                    i ent a trained racing driving though i did do 1300stox for a year and trust me i was often facing the rong way n twice on me roof! then i nearly got killed and decided id rather jus wait till i can drive legally on the road than crash cars for peoples entertainment!

                      Ouch!

                      I've been upside down and backwards in a Celica at high speed and thought I might die. I didn't, and got away with it, but it did teach me one thing. I'm not a driving god, and going sideways in a two ton truck with blancmange suspension can easily turn from fun to a world of hurt you cant recover with all the opposite lock in the world.


                      and I'm older than you with a good handle on my own mortality, and a mortgage, and kids. Amazing how it all focusses you!

                              Dnt worry bout the hi-jack, but genreally i started as a standard essex lad, passed my test few days after my 17th birthday as i was so confident i had theory booked the day after me birthday n test few days later! passed my test went straight to pick the lads up n went to yarmouth where i managed to drop 2 engine mounts in the middle of the beach and got told by the AA unless i get it on the road they wont touch it, couple months later i was sent to court for speeding and ramming into the police car because i couldnt stop in time(glazed the pads and blu'd the discs trying) they gave me 4 points and a fine and told me im very lucky i wasnt banned and jailed so after that i fort i would drive slow vehicles and got into driving 4x4's, best thingy i ever done! local police all know me because the truck stands out, and my neighbour is a police man and his second name is Bacone but pronounced bacon! so now i drive slower and like to do a nice slow speed so people admire the truck as it passes
