And the moral is......
Check you're friggin' oil!! Weekly at least, as every single vehicle handbook says.
Not really any excuse for running out of oil unless you have a catastrophic leak whle driving.4x4toys.co.uk - Keeping you on and off the road...

thats easy for us to follow tony, but try tellin sales reps to check there oil every week, even tho theyve bin drivin for 20 years they pobably never checked there oil once, and these new honda diesels are a bit heavier on oil usage than yer average car imo, a recipe for lots of disasters and by the look of it are gonna get honda a bad name in diesels, even tho rightly as youve said you should check yer oil at least once week, but in reality the average car user wont do it often and maybe not at all, especially on a newer car.

usually after a few month you get to know how much oil a motor is gonna use... so you can vary your checks accordingly.
i've got a 57 reg mercedes 2633 axor which has 19,000km on the clock... in the passenger footwell are 5 empty cans of very expensive castrol!!...
it drinks oillike there's no tomorrow... and added to that, the electronic oil guage can't make it's mind up!... it varies between ok and requiring 5 litres!!... it's total crap!nee nar nee nar, i'm a fire engine!

Just trying to point out, Honda or whoever, is perfectly entitled to tell people to bog off if their car runs out of oil in normal use. Its like taking the car back cos it runs out of petrol!!!4x4toys.co.uk - Keeping you on and off the road...
