  • More Help! Altenator squeak

    On tick over my replacement altenator is making a loud constant squeaking noise (not belts) and im needing it tio shut up as its really annoying.

    Any ideas what it could be? i have dunked her in water recently mind.

    Minie used to do the same, just spray WD40 between the pulley and the alternator casing with the engine running.


    p.s. doing this is so much easier if you have no air-con fitted!

      Yoursie didie did it? I did this for some coniderable amount of time and it worked for approximately 30 seconds and then started again, should i just keep doing it daily until it stops?

          It was a secondhand unit from TonyN so its possible i suppose, but wouldnt that be a buzz more than a squeak?

            Depends on how knackered it is - if it is knackered of course - if it's cracked it may be rubbing causing a metallic squeal.....
