Sancho's idea aint bad, you could mount it in the sort of thing that refridgerated trucks use, on top of the cab, only prob i see is extra pipework where to route it. and may need an electric pump ot help with flow,
i've fitted a second rad on top of the chassi above the rear axle anong with a fan and pump etc, but i aint worried about mud!!
you could run the flow/return in one of your snorkels
don't I remember seeing something on pirate4x4 where they mounted the rad under where the spare mounted at the rear, underneath...? with loads of fans over it...? that would get it away from teh front... then you could do some ducting thing to draw cool air (or water) over it...

the trouble with mounting the rad on the back is that i have to make an external frame to mount it.and its looks crap with anything poking out,so rad has to go under the bonnet
