  • What's It Worth?

With the recent increase in fuel costs, higher tax on big engined cars, I have been looking at what impact all of this has had on the value of my beloved Surf.

Looking at Autotrader and Fleabay, there is a MASSIVE variation in the 'persieved' value of the Surf. Prices range from £1300 right through to £6k+ which is a huge difference for what is essentially the same car. I think people believe the Surf is worth more than it actually is from a Buyers perspective.

So I wonder what you all think? I will soon have very little option other than to sell the Surf, but would like some clue as to what its worth.

It would be great to get a guide from all of you lovely people as to what you think your Surf is valued at, including any Mods, spares, ICE, etc.

    So here goes.

My Surf is a 2nd Gen, 1993 3.0TD SSR-X L-reg in Blue (the best colour so I'm told!), 90K miles

I have fitted a Sony MP3/CD player, 12" Sub & Amp, all belts were changed 12mths ago, new Oil & Fuel filter. New front brake pads in Feb. Front 'Angel Eye' spot lights.

Spares: Uprated Rear Springs (not yet fitted), Panhard Rod Drop bracket, spare set of rear light clusters and front indicators

Paintwork is very good (some light scratches) no dents or dings anywhere. really tidy inside, no tears or stains anywhere. Much Loved!!

Would I be asking too much if I advertised at £2300?

What do you think yours is worth? Honest answers only please!

1995 M reg, 3 litre, 51,000 miles, bullbar, spots, roof spots, rear spoiler, 30mm wheel spacers, new coil springs (Milners 20%), 4 new front wheel bearings, 2" suspension lift, roof bar with lights, 2 brand new batteries, starter motor refurbished (this weekend hopefully), 31" BFGoodrich AT tyres, DVD player, 900watt rockford Fosgate amp and 4 off 6" x 9" speakers, very good condition, drives perfectly. 6 months tax and 6 months test.

I'd be happy with £2300 for mine! (Not that I'm selling of course)!

Scorpion - for '51k miles'! and 'good condition' I think you could at least double your 'fee' at least from my research.

Possibly mate, but I'm a realist. I would love to get £3,000 if I were selling, but you know what it's like. If the right buyer turns up then great, if not it's just a load of hassle.

At the moment, the way fuel prices are spiraling every week, it may be difficult to sell a so called 'gas guzzler'. Thankfully I intend to keep my truck as long as it's financially viable.

I'd start it at £3k, its worth that. Easy £2.5k for a nice 3.0 Surf.

problem is they are selling for less, I bought my 3.0, decent condition but with a running problem for a little over a grand and now stands me about £1400 with a few jobs & mot needing done but I don't see it costing much....

like all cars, they're talking big hits almost on a daily basis, the only part of owning a car that's getting cheaper, buying one...

If anyone is "thinking" of selling please let me know, maybe send me a few pics. I am in the process of getting rid of two cars and looking to get a good surf with the money. l would prefer black but dark blue is ok. Oh and needs to be a 3.0.

I paid £4700 for my 1996 KZN185 SSRG 3.0 Intercooler with 65k miles, great condition and completely standard. Was this a reasonable price??
