  • Bottom spare wheel

This morning I had a flat wheel thanks god I had an electric compressor and I managed to reach the tyre shop.

Even they didn't see how you can get the spare wheel. after checking and trying half hour we found that little cylinder, with a cavity with 2 opposite gaps at the side.
I guess I miss the tool to make it turn around and low the spare wheel.

Anyone has any idea on what to use / where to get that tool?
    Thanks!!!

Have you looked under the rear seat base?

Have you looked under the rear seats next to where the jack is installed ? You should find a long rod under there with a hook on the end. This slides in to the lowering mechanism, the handle should be in the tool bag in the boot

I want a compressor to sort out my flat wheels! Some bloke said I'd need to take them off to have them done...

I saw the handle and tool with the hook at the end but it doesnt fit in any way into the mechanism... ..Maybe the mechanism is broken? I hope that answer also albannach

the long hook should go through the hole in the centre of the rear bumper and into the winder above the spare wheel, then the brown right angled handle bit goes on the end of the bit that's still sticking out of the bumper to turn it.

I was sure was the most logical solution but I couldnt stick it in! I just seen the mechanism that can turn and low a bracket at the bottom left near the wheel.
Well.. I will try and see whats wrong, thanks a lot nero

Some trucks have the bit you stick the bar in over to one side, above the exhuast pipe. Poke the bar through the hole on the bumper at 45deg to the bumper, and it'll locate in the slot on the winch mech.

If you can't see the mech, its above the spare.

Hi Guys I took a picture of the mechanism so you too can look at it.

as you see is a cylinder with 2 gaps that move the bracket to low the wheel, my stick with hook doesnt fit in there.. any ideas?

Are you sure the hook part wont push into the two notches. Its like this on citroens dont know about the Surf as mines on the rear.

                            No luck.

                            ...or a bit is missing
                            ...or I need another tool.
