  • another tyre question

    Hi All
can anyone tell me if 32x11.5x15 maxxis mud tyres will fit on a 2.4 surf with 2'' lift fitted, also would the fit onto standerd rims. photo off said vehicle.

    Should do.

    *fingers crossed*

maxxis buckshots are under what the measurement is. eg: the 32x11.50 is actually 31.3" tall.

so its bigger then a 265/70/15 or a 31x10.50 because they are all normally undersized. My 35" bfg's are actually 34.8"

Yes they will. I asked the same question to a tyre fitter last year, same size/make tyres too.

          265/75-15 = 30.6"

Well Rod Leach reckons his 2.4 copes with 35s!

However, I notice the difference of 33s with a 3.0!

One of us is more, or less critical it seems

33s witha 2" lift will be tighter than a duck's ar5e. You need another 2" to be safe.

Mines a 2.4 with 3 inch suspension and 2 inch body lift and they dont rub or anything on 33x12.50R15's although i notice quite a difference in performance not huge but noticeable, and fuel economy is up on motorway but down around town.

Go for a 2 inch body lift aswell and you should be sorted.

my 265/75/16's are larger then a standard 31x10.50 but they read approx 30" tall.

months of research into tyres has led me to one conclusion...

I believe YOU think its OK.

Drive a 3.0 on 31s (more or less standard) and then you'll have a reference.

It does look great - if a little narrow - should've kept the spacers - DOH! With my sensible head on, I couldn't live with 35s given the amount of miles I do. 33s have reduced the miles per tank by about 25 (though that might be more to do with them being aggressive mud tyres than the diameter) and anyone who tells you it makes no difference is kidding themselves. The hard facts say it MUST do. Re-geared diffs is a partial answer, but rotational mass will ALWAYS be against you. Why do you think racing cars go for as light a wheel / tyre as possible?
