Hmm..What to buy..Diesel or petrol...

It's going to be a daily driver, and it's going to get big tyres, 33" and a lift. So it's going offroad too.

Do you guys have a preference between Diesel and petrol? And if I put those big tyres on, is this going to destroy the drive train?

I'm shopping for a 1993-98. We have thousands of these things in NZ, so I have options. Quite often see repowered surfs with 4.0L Lexus engines etc.. but I don't want to be feeding a V8.

Any advice will be Much appreciated.

Most of have diesels ......mainly as they are more available and we can run them on veg oil . The 3ltr diesel will run 33" tyres without too much trouble but if you do alot of towing you may need to regear the diffs
