<edit> and its not just that. This 'rash' or riders of the gravy train of the current vogue for female whiners... well their songs are weak. They're written by someone else generally. I believe that the artists job is to write from the heart, and then sing from the heart.
Singing someone elses sone, even when written for you to sing, is plagiarism in my book. It doesn't get the spine tingling, or the lump in the throat, or make you want to move. People who do that...
Dave Grohl (as mentioned)
Michael Stipe
Radiohead - on occasion (Fake plastic trees)
Anthony Keidis
Billy Corgan
Fiona Apple
Johnny Cash
ermmmm... then we have to go back to people like Hendrix, James Brown.
Music is an art, not something that can be trotted out by producers and record companies with their eye on the next fad. Trust me, Amy will be propping up the pages on 'Hello' for 'how much she's thrown up this week' within a year, and that is all.

David Grohl - Commented on before
Michael Stipe - Liked them until 'Everybody Hurts', biggest load of dog poo I've ever heard (apart from Freebird), but appreciate the talent.
Radiohead - Tom Yorke - First song I ever cried to was Creep. Still my favourite song ever. Radiohead are awesome' seen the live may times.
Anthony Keidis - Never thought he had talent or showed promise.
Fiona Apple - Jury is still out. Can't figure out whether I appreciate what she does or if I like what she does.
Johnny Cash - You're taking the pi55 now?
What about Prodigy, Faithless, The Sex Pistols et all?

Whats wrong with that, he had talent (still p!ssin meself laughin though)
Elkie Brooks haha, she use to live just down the road from me.
As for that what's her face (oh yes Amy), I'm afraid I'm with Apache. Has admittedly donea couple of catchy songs, however she'd be one of the people along with Pete Doherty that I have put up for sterilisation! Don't want any more of them around!
Whoever you are, if you're into drugs then keep it to yourself and out of public site (too may kids think these people are cool).
Further more - I love a good female vocalist too, but they've got to be (in my view a decent person at heart) - I.e. Leona - I think the best I've heard! other good people are the SugarBabes/Rachel Stevens - you practically never seen them causing havoc lol.

Totally agree..
I'm of the firm opinion that the media has created her fame and not what little talent she has/had.
every day - front page story of amy whine house taking drugs or doing bizaree things after taking drugs - all publicity to sell records. If she was straight laced - or even kept her drug adventures out of the public eye - she wouldn't be in the charts.
Far better singers in my local on karoke night!!!
I'd just like to add that my music taste goes way WAAAY beyond what I stated, and its not just Amy I have an aversion to, but most 'manufactured for a market' type music. I like my music to move me.
Re. Johnny Cash - have you heard his cover of NINs 'Hurt'? Absolutely awesome, and gut wrenchingly moving.
Oh, and if you DO like Amy Whinehole, then thats OK too. It doesn't make you a bad person, and I would hope you think I'm an arse for not appreciating her 'talent'. its what 'opinions' are about innit?
Apache - the singers gotta write it or it doesn't count??? I'm back into Ella Fitzgerald at the mo and she didn't write a lot of her stuff but it is still some of the best singng ever recorded. Or most of the great vocalists of the 50's and 60's for that matter, male or female, Sinatra et al.......
Glad I missed the Britts I think. I watched Dawn Goes Lesbian instead on BBC3, documentry about a reporter living a month with 3 other lesbians to see if it would turn her to the feminine side. It almost did too, very enjoyable tv and I'm glad my license fee was put to good use.
We get these little 'rashes' of female angst stylee vocalists from time to time and I wish they'd just f*** off and die cos they take up valuable oxygen that people like Dave Grohl could be using.
How boring would life be if we all liked the same music
I like lots of different types of music but by far my favourite female artist is one that most people will never have heard off even though she has sold over 26 million albums and last year performed for 77.000 fans at the San Siro Stadium, Italy.
I’m talking about Italian singer-song writer Laura Pausini. Her music style is Latin rock / pop and she sings in Italian, Spanish, French, Portuguese and English. Great voice and good looking as well
Amy Wineshouse is shit and an idiot. End of conversation.
I wish you hadn't mentioned Billy Corgan too, what a nob. In an ideal world, I would feed Billy Corgan to Amy Winhouse until he was dead and she burst.
