  • MY NEW BABY.....Your Thoughts??

    Hi to all,

Well I have finally received my Surf from Japan and I wanted some opinions on it from the experts as I am relatively new to the Surf world. I owned a 95 Surf 3.0 TD for a short time and had to sell it. This is a 1997 2700cc gas and I hope I dont regret not going with the diesel but too late for that now.

Can anyone tell me how high the lift is that she has? The tires are 35"

I have NEVER had a lifted vehicle and so I would appreciate any advice on maintenance and also driving precautions. Also, are there any other thoughts about this year model related to mechanical positives or negatives?

Thanks so much guys and please let me know what you think!! :-)

HERE IS A LINK FOR VIEWING MY SURF WHICH I THINK IS BETTER THAN THE PREVIOUS ATTACHMENTS.

                      More Pics & THANKS

                      Hi Guys,

Thanks for the feedback......please try to go to the link below for better photos. Again, please give your opinions :-)

                      http://s259.photobucket.com/albums/h...nt=SkySurf.jpg

Also, a few questions about previous comments:

                      1. Woodzie, what do you mean when you say "hair salon"?

                      2. Kerrsurf, what does it mean to add a "wee blue star"?

Sorry my lingo is not up to date so I need translations.... :-)

Now about the lift, I am not sure if it is ALL BODY lift or not....anybody have any thoughts from what can be seen in the photos?

Any estimation on how much of a lift this is?

Any suggestions or precautions about having this kind of a lift as it relates to driving or maintenance?

Of course any thoughts or suggestions, in general, related to the 3rd Gen 2700cc is also most welcome.

Thanks again guys and Chao for now!!

I know I sound ignorant and I suppose I am but I have to start somewhere why not here?

                        Those are better pics!!

                        Thats a beast mate.

Basically it looks like the majourity of your lift has been carried out via a body lift so theres no way to compensate the increased centre of gravity by putting in firmer shocks/springs.

Just take it real slow. Dont go to hard into anything, be aware of everything happening on the road so you dont end up in a situation your truck wont let you out of .

Just chill an relax driving it for a while. Soon you'll know how it handles an then your sorted mate

                          Thanks RodLeach,

Do you think I should have it lowered or does that not make sense? Again, I am pretty ignorant to lifts, perhaps it is not even mechanically advised to lower after raising a vehicle.

Again, any thoughts would be appreciated.

If you lower it you may find the tyres rub on full lock whilst steering mate!
To be honest - Its easy for me to advise removing such a large body lift BUT in reality, if it were my truck i'd leave it like that.

I'd just enjoy it mate! T'was what it was built for.

YES! definately, looks terrible, remove all lifts ie, body and suspension they make the truck look far too big and butch.

Send them to me and i'll send you a full lowering kit and i'll just put up with your lift on my truck.
