Please can you help. When I find a surf I will be transporting my Rotty in the back.
I can not find any dog guards for the surf.
Those of you who take your dogs in the back what do you find to be the safest way? Thank you for your help.
    Live the dream.......

Can't you get adjustable ones? Is there a guard for the 4Runner listed?

I have the roughtrax one but it is just a universal dog guard.. It does work well i cant remember the make but ive seen it cheaper on another site!! i will take a look and get back to you. it manages to hold my StBernard in the back just fine!!

I bought one from Halfrauds - works just fine....you could get a large cage instead of a guard....

i bought 2 bbq square metal mesh rack type things from homebase. cable tied them both together with them overlapping about 8inches into one another, cable tied pipe lagging all round the edge to make sure safe from any points, then tied it all up to my back headrests. dog can't knock it down like he could with an adjustable/universal thing, it cost next to nothing, is safe and strong enough to keep the dog out (very strong 19 month old german shepherd).
i swear, it was like that when i got here...

I bought the dog guard from Roughtrax which is quite good, my rottie used to knock it over so I use two small suitcase padlocks to fix it to the rear seatbelts, that way you don't have to keep cutting cable ties when you want to remove it!! I also have to put a cage in as well as the dog does not like the boot (and my driving) as he falls about in it.
If you are going to transport without a crate then a rubber load liner is a must, also from roughtrax.............

I've made mine pup freindly as it has to cope with a six week old every year, it also gives somewhere to put things out of sight but adapts for two dogs.

Failing that I guess you could buy the little fella his own set of wheels

Thanks Antshiel, proud of him most of the time except when he nicks the t cloth and decides to rip it to shreds, oh and they love to dig holes big time
