Man that's some powerful airgun to knock down a wabbit.

I guess it's nothing like the 177 I used to have that struggled to put holes in paper.

Just under 12 ft lb head shots upto 40 yards are effective.

I saw an article donkeys years ago in a gun magazine about a guy that cut down the barrel and stock on a 22 and uprated it to the point where it needed a firearms license to own it. How you cocked it I have no idea.

An air rifle becomes FAC rated at anything over 12 ft/lbs.

Most FAC air rifles are rated at approximately 25 – 30 ft/lbs with a few up near 50ft/lbs… still pathetic, low powered plinkers compared to the likes of my Winchester in .375 Holland & Holland Magnum with 4,265 ft/lbs (355 times more power than a standard air rifle)…I get far more recoil energy hitting me in the shoulder than an FAC air-rifle puts out the end of the barrel
Mine WAS a 150 bhp V6 and ran on PETROL

No problem. He just sneaks up behind them and clubs them over the head with the stock.

But you live in Cheshire! Or do you need a gun for your own version of the Beast of Bodmin down there? (And I don't mean Stormforce or Pirate storm)

Jemmy git. I have been trying to get persmission for ages so that I can put in for my shot gun and bullet gun liecence but they have had problems around here with people setting dogs off to kill the rabbits, so they are a little twitchy now..

I wouldnt mind its folk who are not from around here who have been doing it.

When I go shooting I have to go with my mates as they have loads of persmissions, which is a pain in the ass..

i just got another permission for bunnie shooting with my .22 rimfire this week, lamping - as its a trout fishery - so cant shoot when people fishing!

went out to another of my permissions the other night with the 4runner, and lamping, passenger footwell full of .22 shells now,
my brother did most of the driving, except for a gloopy section that i drove
the new BFG all-terrains did very well, slight bit of wheel spin, the old mud tyres did a bit better,

anyone use a .223 - i am thinking of putting in for a variation - how much are they second hand - for a reasonable one

If you look on sites like http://www.guntrader.co.uk/GunsForSale/
You will see the prices start around £250 ish.

I wanted a .300 win mag but due to new regs I had to change to something else. Other guys at the club where getting good results with their .223’s so I ordered a new .223 which should arrive any day now. After looking at lots of rifles I went for a CZ 527 Varmint Laminate http://www.cz-usa.com/product_detail.php?id=14 reason being it has the heavy barrel now with a 1 in 9 twist rate, set trigger, detachable mag and a nice laminate stock. I already have two other CZs in .22 Rimfire http://www.cz-usa.com/product_detail.php?id=2 and .308 http://www.cz-usa.com/product_detail.php?id=21.

I’m mainly a target shooter these days (more organized than late night / early mornings wandering around fields) shooting on MOD ranges and gun club indoor ranges. My .375 H&H has recently been banned on MOD ranges as being too powerful, though I can still use it at other ranges.

My Dad is coming up to 74 and had his first air gun aged 4 so shooting has been a big part of his life. It is something we can enjoy doing together… he is always after another gun and generally is putting in for a variation every 4 – 6 months… he got his FAC back yesterday so straight after work I took him to collect another rifle (.7.62), ahh well keeps him fit and active I guess.

If you were all nearer you could come and shoot at my place. Got a pheasant shoot and pigeons, deer, foxes, rabbits, rats. Ah well, maybe next season.
