nice comfy truck but very thirsty so keep some dollar for LPG

I looked at a few and was set on one but for some reason ended up with a Ford Blazer but after 5 weeks "I seen the light" and got me a surf (4 runner)

They are supposed to be reasonably reliable engine wise seem to recall the main issues were hinge pins on front doors (which apparently can be a beatch to replace), I think rear brake calliper assemblies can need replacing (not cheap) and the alarm/immobilisers are prone to problems (pants down time) but once original equipment is replaced/sorted they are then reliable.

Main reservation was the lack of outlets for spares and the cost of. Most Vauxhall dealers I spoke to didn't stock parts but there is a 4x4 specialist manchester way that did.

generally I think people ask alot of money for them but compared to the equivelant Jeep Grand Cherokee for instance they are cheap and you get alot of car for your money.

If its a bargain and you can live with mid to high teens mpg or can afford £2k for LPG then I think they are nice luxury trucks

had them as hire cars in the good 'ol US of A. Comfy, quick for a truck, thirsty. No idea what they are like when the going gets tough as the worst i threw at them was sandy / gravelly / rocky missile range roads, though they were OK at that.

Small Chevy Blazer is a pretty reliable truck but as has been said, difficult to get spares for (although an american parts place will get parts not to much problem).

4.3 is juicy but nothing compared to the full size.

The small Blazer as an off road tool is pretty useful but no better than a Cherokee, now if you were talking a full size K5, they are bomb proof and will go anywhere you can fit them - much like the full size Ford Bronco.

Better off getting a Cherokee as you can pick them up for peanuts and they are no more juicy plus the parts are easy. However watch out for the rear diff, it gives a new meaning to the word Fragile. (I had one and killed two diffs in less than a year on a brand new vehicle going off road only very occasionally).
