My Surf was made in 1993, it had a "K" Plate!

When I re-registered it in N.I. they gave me a 2003 plate!

£99 for 6 months and £180 for 12 months. Sounds like they've banded your surf as a band F producing over 185g/Km of CO2.
Looks like M35A2 was right, they're giving out new registrations so they can tax you a little bit more

Pre 2001 vehicles have a flat rate of tax. Mine is £180 for 12 months and it's a 1994.

After 2001 vehicles are taxed on emissions and engine size.

The DVLA did that with my old soarer too... when I took my private reg off and applied for a new "standard" one, the monkey on the case clearly just looked at "first registration" and gave my '92 car a "S" plate.
