idle up switch

hi am i right that the idle up switch is connected to the throttle housing?is it connected to a sensor or the likes??
because when my truck plays up, by pushing this a few times it seems to sort out the shakeing and stops playing up?

Its electronic, via the ECU.

All it does is increase the RPM in P and N, probably doing the same with the throttle pedal would give you same result.
