The Caterhams are expensive if you want them to be. If you buy a factory built top spec model, you're looking at around £35K. But a part built basic one is much less than half that I think. They're incedibly fast in a straight line, but they also go round corners very well. They're the epitomy of the classic english sports car to me.

Cosworths could be as mental as you like, but still go to Tesco and do the monthly shop with the family. That puts them into a quite special group of cars.

Paul, the trouble with the Caterham is that anything but the lower spec cars are factory build only, ie the Superlight and CSR ranges, and now that's a price tag of over £40k.
Mine is a 'Seven' style car, which cost me just over £12k to build and will easily keep up with a Caterham

      Cheers, Nick

Must admit that I haven't looked at Seven prices recently, no point as I couldn't afford one anyway.

I have looked at some of the Seven look-a-likes. The cheapest one is the Robin Hood IIRC, and it was based on a Sierra chassis. The Westfields also tend to be cheaper, but there is just something about the body on a Westfield that I just don't like. Mind you, they sell (or used to sell anyway) a V8 version.

There's also bike engined versions available. A few years ago I saw a twin Hayabusa engined one (are they called Megabusa?) at a hillclimb. It was ridiculously fast and sounded like an F1 car!
