  • Body Lift Instructions For A Moron !

HI, my 1.5" body lift kit came today for my 3ltr and me and my brother in law are going to have a go fitting it this weekend, does anyone have any links to show me how its done with pics if possible, or even a pop up book !
will i have any problems with the gear stick or steering column with a 1.5" lift ?

      All here dude.
Steering column will need slackening to adjust the length of the spline and you may need to trim the tranny tunnel.

Da Shank! Hahahaha - my instructions are much easier to follow - leave truck in the capable hands of Boyo and Chillitt and move house while they do it for you!!!

                  You guys rock!!!

I have to admit that does beat squashed fingers, wet knees and a slightly bent sill when i wasnt watching properly.

Tis a good feelin doing it though.

Im with Lamb shank! Doing it yourself is a great feeling!

To stand back an feel youve achieved something!

i got wet knees, i got cold, tired, hungry but it was all worth it - up untill the point i trapped my finger between a socket an a dodgy washer that didnt wanna go back on its bolt!!

                      that hurt!

The best way, Is get someone else's truck in to practice on, send them away so they don't get stressed when the hammers come out, then get a proper mechanic in to do the work so I don't get the blame for anything that goes wrong....

                          Ohh!

for gawds sake! make sure you make note of EXACTLY how the body mounts go back together!

When i did mine i found that too many chefs spoil the broth. Everyone was doing something an whilst it took absolutly no time at all to get the main lift done - putting it all back together was a nightmare! no one knew where anything was or how it all went back!!

The best way is to pay someone else. Go to the pub and come back when your truck is done and let your missus drive it home - cos obviously you wont drive after 6 pints of 'Ol knuckle dragger'

Just kidding, there's enormous satisfaction to be had from doin the stuff yourself - or even making the bits yourself - which I'm just starting to scratchg the surfacse of.

                              My 2p worth

And some reference stuff before I got going:
                              How the yanks do it
                              How the aussies do it
                              How we Brits do it

I've cranked back the torsion bars and it sits just how I want it now:

underside of rear arch to centre of centre cap - 605mm
underside of front arch to centre of centre cap - 600mm
                              Wax on, wax off
