Relax Sandy its first of all its made by Toyota. Its their Hilux Surf 2.4 litre diesel 'SUV' (hate that name meself). They didnt ever sell them in these parts although for 3 yrs in the mid nineties they tried and marketed them as the Toyota 4runner then they gave up as peoples taste just werent ready for the next best thing . So all Surfs you see are imported 2nd hand from Japan and the odd 4runner you see should be a UK model. Parts arent hard to come by, just come by this site and ask the questions
Nope they're 2nd gens, '89 - '95. You cant mistake the 1st gen with its fibreglass shell on the back and the smaller squarer rear side-window.
Spose Markys mate might have a '91 1st gen, depends on when it was 1st sold and then registered but who would've paid for an older model when the new one was around 2 yrs already.
If someone tried to sell me a '98 2nd gen I'd tell them to get up the yard
