I would caution against the remote engine starter . It is illegal in this country to leave a vehicle with the engine running with no one in the driving seat on the public highway . The exception is under repair conditions ie mechanic working on engine .
Your Insurance company will also go mad if they find out it is fitted as the cover will be invalid .
Alot of the fitments to these imports are not legal here .

I nearly got a pull for that when I had a 2L Cortina. The ignition switch was so dodgy you could pull the keay out with the engine running. I had only had a jump start about 3 mins before, so I left it running with the door locked, while I nipped in the shop. I was cautioned by a friendly plod.
I always remember being impressed with my uncles story. He lives in Wisconsin. His car had a timed engine oil preheater, to save wear on cold starts and he used to remote start it while he ate his brekky.
We are not alowed any fun in this country.
I want the under sill flame thrower for zapping car-jackers and road ragers!
      It's only a hobby!

i'm having trouble finding one. would prefer one without a electronic remote as my keys often get soaked while im scuba diving/launching the boat.
i've been looking at the imobilisers with the plastic key fob thing withiout bateries anyone know if they still work after getting wet?

In my experiance in the trade (motor) I have fitted a few alarm/immobaliser systems to cars/vans . The best ones are sometimes the simplest .On my Transit van I simply broke into the wirring loom behind dash and fitted a hidden switch on the ignition circuit . If someone tried to start the van - no spark .
On the Diesel you have an electric fuel shut off valve on the pump . All you need to do is trace the cable and make a break in the wire and fit a switch in behind dash that is not too obvious .
I had a few of these test me on the AA when the switch failed , as they do , and I had to trace it . Some people bought cars with them and did not know .
