Hmmm, sounds unlikely they ran out of fuel cos they'd make a different approach, or would have diverted somewhere closer if there was the risk.
Some sort of catastrophic failure sounds more likely, though as critical systems are triple redundant, sounds unlikely also.
Wait and see I guess.Cutting steps in the roof of the world

You could be right Charlie.
However, they're talking about windshear on TV now. That sounds entirely more plausible, but the pilots would know immediately and I would have thought they'd have said straight away.Cutting steps in the roof of the world

Windshear can be very transient, it needn't affect planes travelling the same route shortly after.
I think it's Fort Worth suffers a lot during the stormy seasons, and I seem to recall they've lost a few planes there due to it. Must flown in there half a dozen times meself. Its always in the back of my mind!Cutting steps in the roof of the world

Looking at the TV coverage yesterday the plane had more mud on it than must of us did by the time we got home from the Plains - did Woodzie take it for a spin ?
Or then again are they not telling us that the last message the pilots got before the crunch was 'Windows has suffered a fatal exception in........'
Joking aside the crew did ###### well to get it down and everyone out safely, a measure of how well the pilots did was the comments from some passengers that they thought it was just a bumpy landing until they got outside.
TrevLook out Eastbourne, the Pandas are coming !
