  • Should I?

been after a truck for a while now, looked at all sorts, shogun/pajero/discovery/fourtrak/terrano etc etc and the surf was mentioned in the passing by a mate...

Anyway, surf seems like a good idea and have found one I quite like the sound of but am worried over the persistant cooling/head problems on the 2.4 (can't stretch to a 3.0)... the one I'm considering has had a modified head fitted but my worries linger

please help poor confused boy and keep me away from this...

if the surf has the modified head fitted then make sure the seller has the paperwork to prove it and if it has then you should be ok with it

Don't you ever, ever, ever, ever post links to L******ers on here again, you'll get banned !

Anyhoo, 3.0s can be had for the price of 'repaired' 2.4s these days.

Hi Dee Lots of us have 2.4s

If it's had the head done take it for a good test run and make sure it's cold when you go to view. Check for excessive smoke this can be due to knacked injectors washing the cylinder out and lead to probs later other than that I wouldn't be worried about buying a 2.4 again.

        Cheers JB

You have to be off your rocker to want an early disco - the dash is pure hatred!!!

The 300TDi dash is sh!t loads better ...

That was the dash outta my old disco!

But still avoid them like they will give you crabs!

get a 2.4 an live life on the edge!! throw caution to the wind!!!

I did - an i havent looked back since

suspected posting a link to one of those may raise an eyebrow or two!

really needs to be the tractor fuelled variant, intend on running it on veg, if I get a petrol one it'll need lpg...

and I'm used to living life on the edge of mechanical oblivion, my passion for Alfa's see's to that, what I really need is something I can be confident it'll start when I need it to and minor things like the wipers will work all the time, unlike the alfa this morning

                        Hehe, Dee is me!

I looked at those on his shortlist 4 years ago (but replace the fourtrak with the Cherokee), AND I came to the Surf from Alfas!

I'd STILL have an Alfa above nearly all other affordable cars, particularly the Brera with the V6. Gorgeous!

lol, now that's funny, although I had discounted the cherokee early on due to worries over reliability and parts availability/cost,
