Theres a book about vinegar and all its uses, A thousand uses for vinegar or something like that. Did you find the chapter on removing broken glow plugs then ?? Or if it works will you be contacting the publisher ??
Bogus
evening alex,
in the same sort of vein, i tried allsorts of cleaning products to rid my windscreen of flies, turns out that wshing powder is spot on,maybe i need to mix some vinegar in !!
when i drill it out, ive been given some advice that im to coat the drill bit in silicone or really thick grease and down the hole. then im to drill a bit, clean the filings off the drill, re-apply sticky stuff and carry on

i just use the windscreen wipers :/ and steer around the manure
Are you planning on pulling the broken plug out or trying to have the engine eject it? Pulling it out is OK, but having the engine eject it is extremely hazardous. Do it outdoors and don't have anyone or anything anywhere near the engine when you fire it.
Uncontrolled expansion of high temperature compressed gas down to ambient temperarure and pressure is not without its dangers.

yeah me mum asked me to keep the truck out my bedroom..
seriously though, i was driving round for like a month with nothing in the hole.
when it first snapped i came up with the idea of cranking it over to try and free it. we got cloths and a massive piece of cardboard over the engine and stood well back. nothing was heating the plugs as its all disconnected. it turned over as normal and fired on all 4. we just looked at each other and laughed. i revved it a bit but nothing. so i just drove it around with no stereo on waiting for a pop and a tish of the gas getting out.. but nothing.
i plugged it back up just in case there is a slight air leak.
so ill try the same thing again tomorrow, i'll be the only one around and its going to be in the st. bonnet up. then when that dont work ill try and use a screw to screw into it and pull it out like corking a bottle.
when that dont work ill be looking for a drill bit :/
thanks for the warning though. ive done worst things on my own, removing engines with no crane or lift, and changing a clutch + re-fitting the gearbox using my shoulder and sitting on the floor.
stupidest thing was trying to fit a strut with no spring clamps. i reckon the cable ties would of held long enough though. i didnt chance it in the end.
When I was on the tools, a mate was taking s front spring out of a Cavalier using the correct Vauxhall tool. The spring slipped and came out of the clamp, tore the wing off the car, went accross the workshop, through another customer's car (in a door window and out the rear one) and eventually bounced to a stop outside reception. It's a minor miracle that nobody was hurt!

Be careful!
yeah i got a telling off from my uncle, hes been a mechanic for years. he told me a story like that, except he mentioned jaguar springs i think. he said that the uncompressed size is about double of what they need to be to get them in.
when i was 18 me and my mate changed some springs on a mk1 fiesta. we got the old one out by using a duvet. we didnt do the 2nd one
