  • balloooon tyres??

    is 'balloon tyre' a propper term?
    im trying to find a tyre that bulges out at the sidwall a bit.
    anyone know of this tyre and that is all terrain.. i cant really go for muds as im mainly a road person. :/

    Runway Enduro's. U can get them from roughtrax in 31's.

          Its pretty hard to get 'ballon' tyres, I wanna say, fit them to a smaller rim but that makes them tall and narrow.

          so, Wide rims is the only real option. So your looking at 8" which is ok but 10" is where the real width is at. Then you can slap some 12.50s on but it will only buldge as much as its supposed to.

          If you want, Maxxis and Interco both make a 13.50 tyre in 33" height.

          But its going to be really hard to get a tyre to 'buldge' excessivly

            There's some balloonie lookin tyres called Bravo (AT) & Buckshot (MT)
            on P47 of Jan 08 TOR mag, Silverline 4x4 do them.

              Baloon Tyres

              Baloon tyres used to be standard issue to the british military landrovers for desert and sand use.
              Michelin are the only make I know that were fitted to the desert vehicles but I am sure there are others.

              Baloon referred to the bulge in the sidewall when ran at sand driving pressure and was used to spread the load and not dig in easily.
              NOT a good idea for tarmac use as the vehicle will roll like a pig as there is not the side wall stability which keeps the tyre upright.
