  • to you that hate London

in past threads a lot of you state you wouldnt ever want to go to london etc etc
in my opinion, i have been to few other cities and think london is the best. there is plenty to do and see, and getting around is easy enough. the underground is quick, but little overcrowded at times. (you can get really intimate with fellow passengers, without being called 'pervert' etc.)
but there are just a few people that think they own it, and trying to make it theirs.
-ken is trying to rename some underground stations so they are more tourist friendly. what gives him the right to rename stations that have been round over hundred years?
    this LEZ.
there is no poll or 'ask the public before we decide' its just forced on us with no option to choose. my mate is looking at moving to brighton now because of this LEZ. i cant do that because i work in the city

ive been to tower bridge and been to see the crown jewells as well and london dungeon.

Yep, most parts are rough. Too many socialists acting against the native English. More votes from those living in free housing and on benefits I suppose.

I would never move back. The best thing I ever did for my kids was to get out of there. I'll suffer my 40 + mile commute gladly.

Born & bred in London, as was all my family. Wouldn't go back even if I win the lottery! It is not the London I knew for many reasons all of which would have me branded as some kind of "ist" so for a change I'll keep my mouth shut!

cant remember. there is 3 or 4. one of them is being changed to brick lane - i think that is aldgate east.

the fact is though, no one was asked, the real londoners. no petition or anything. its just " oh yer were naming some stations by the way"

Ahh at last, someone agrees with me!!!!

Ive seen a hell of a lot of Europe. My sister is a travel agent so every few minutes its "ive found an amazing holiday to ...... for £xx each" an there normally cheap as chips!!

(never been to Spain, dunno why!)

An seriously nothing has even come close to matching the Sh!thole that Venice is/was ... the place just stank sooo bad.

Right, honestly one of the best cities i have ever visited? Krakow in Poland.

Stunning buildings, friendly locals, some of the best resturants ive ever eaten in. All round it was amazing, and going in the winter just adds that extra spice to already great place.

                    b0llucks to Venice!!!

London is an interesting place to visit, when I had a proper job we packed up at 12:30 on friday, I used to get a train or drive and spend the afternoon wondering around.

All the Museums, Gallerys, Soho, walking along the river, etc.... are wonderful places to walk around. Some of the old buildings are fantasic.

Part of my job when fixing printing machinery was quite was delivering stuff to the City, used to drive a Van or 7.5 lorry (depending on how much stuff) there daily, and I love driving around the City, especailly the inner part.

There's so many freaks in London you can never get bored, its great place to visit or just drive around laughing at people.

I would never want to live there, but that goes the same for any build up area. If I can see my neighbours house, then the place build up for my tastes!!

I used to live in Surrey, and spent alot of time in London (using public transport and driving) and the culture side of the city was great .....but it was still a shit hole . I haven't been there now for 14 years and i do no miss the place and would only go back there if it was somthing realy worth while
and the chances of that are slim , as if i wanted to see a rock gig Bristol and cardif are closer and easier to get to

I've worked in London for years, and Bristol, Manchester, Birmingham, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich, Prague, Warsaw, Paris, and a few other places, went to Uni in Edinburgh - and London as a place is OK, although usually full of arrogant plebs who think they are more important than everyone around them, but there are a lot of nice people there too - and it does seem the City Council are doing their level best to get everyone to move out by taxing them on everything they do and charging them to breathe, but it's an OK place - although I prefer Edinburgh, much nicer, safer, cleaner, better - and the locals are nicer too!
