Good question. I see my local branch is only 4 miles away on the Teams Valley trading estate in Gateshead. Would be nice to become a member (or know someone who is a member ).

Details of what requisits you need to become a member

      About Registration
To register with Booker you must be in one of the following qualifying categories: Caterer; Retailer; Other business; Charity; Organisation e.g. Scouts.

When you fill in your details online an e-mail will be sent to your local branch and they will phone you within 24 hours to discuss your registration.

We will visit you to arrange your registration and give you your customer number, alternatively you can arrange to visit your branch.

On your first visit you will need 2 proofs of business or membership, of one of the above qualifying groups in order to register. E.g. business invoice; utility bill; rental agreement; bank statement, business permit or licence, VAT registration (if applicable).

I think - probably wrongly - that you have to own a business or be VAT registered - but maybe wrong. A friend of mine (who is VAT registered) got me a makro trade card - I have a costco account through my employer (NMUK) and managed to get an RS account through my E-bay account/buisness name. But me thinks Booker is a proper cash and carry warehouse for shops etc and wouldn't entertain a pleb like me just wanting to empty their shelves of cheap veg....

It appears that veg prices get steeper the further north you travel??
I've never found any cheap veg in aldi, lidl, makro, etc etc when notified on here.

I'm way norther than you and have had the 49p oil from Tesco and Lidl. Ordinary KTC is abundant at £12.99 for 20L and Yoshie's found 20L for £9.99 locally.

So I guess it's not a north thing?
