  • Damn pigeons!!

Hi, I've had a request from my nephew for pigeon at the Xmas dinner (he's not eaten it before) so I've been out all morning trying to shoot some and they've disappeared............there were loads there yesterday. Pah! Kids! He's still got a choice of turkey, duck, pheasant, partridge and woodcock. My niece won't eat anything except mashed potatoes, we call her Bodger the Badger.

I'm off out to try again.........I may be some time.

Has anyone had one of those multi meat things (not a kebab) where the butcher puts a pigeon inside a pheasant then that inside a chicken then that inside a duck, then a turkey then a goose? I'm not sure if it's in that order but it's really popular around here at Christmas.

                (I promise this isn't a wind up!)

                Merry Christmas all!

Feel free to quote me on this, I'm in a generous mood!

Yes, I've done that. You gotta take the bones out first and tie it all up. It's delicious.

You should have said sooner, I hit one with the 'Batmobile' on saturday morning at 80mph, it was staggering across the road, so it was obviously on it's last legs, I hit it with the front spoiler lip which is 4" off the ground!

When I lived in a Suffolk farm we used to eat wild thing pie every Sunday.

Everything I'd shot during the week went into a pie.

Coote, moorhen, mallard, rabbit, pigeon and munkjak or roe.

I used to shoot a pigeon and mantel it using a bit of twig throw sone corn down and sit on my deck chair with the garage on my back witing for then i would have a small flock in no time.

I haven't had home made game pie for years. My mum made me a pigeon pie about ten years ago. It takes a fair few pigeons to make a meal.

My mum used to do the turkey with a goose inside, then a capon, then a duck, then a pheasant, then a partridge, with a goose egg in the middle. Bernard Mathews and Jamie Oliver eat your hearts out!
                          It's only a hobby!
