  • flooded bathroom

my bathroom flooded out on Wednesday evening and i couldn't get in touch with the insurance company till yesterday morning at 9am,they told me a comp[any will be in touch in 2 to 3 hours as it will be treated as an emergency.3.30pm came so ring the insurance company to find out whats going on and they never notified the company assigned to do the clean up.
Anyway i had a phone call at 9 am this morning saying that someone will be here in 30mins.The guy has just left after doing the assessment and putting in dehumidfiers to dry the place out and will be back in the new year.
The best thing about our insurance is that we do not have to do nothing now as all the flooring and builders are already assigned by the insurance company to come in when ready now to do the work so we don't have to chase around getting quotes etc.Just got to wait now till the new year for the bathroom and utility room to dry out so everyone else can come in to do the work.

sorry to hear about your bathroom but at least its under control now.
insurance could have gotten off their bums a bit quicker though.. what if it had been spraying about all over the place? the whole house could have been soggy!
    Oh Nana, what's my name?

the insurance company couldn't even get the details right cause they told the contractors that the bathroom was upstairs and the ceiling was falling down.Unless i got a cellar that i never knew i had then my bathroom is downstairs,at least its all being sorted now anyway and that i've had the 3 things go bad .
      this week the flood
last week the combi boiler nearly blew off the wall
the week before i crashed the truck
so all in all this is one hell of an expensive xmas for us

i have just gone to sort the waste pipes out and have just noticed that there is not enough fleet on the waste pipe for it to flow properly to the drain and as i took the U bend off a whole load of water has poured out over the floor so i have now got to re-do all the bloomin waste pipe to the drain now so i am really $$$$ed off that a proper plumber has ballsed this up

Must be something in the water my rad burst last night in the bathroom flooded the upstairs bathroom.

It's ok water found it's way down the wall cavity and out through the chip board floor in the hall.

This has not been a good year for water either I cant get any at the tap of it's running through me floor.

Make sure the company tell you how much electricity the dehumidifiers use cos you can actually claim that back too.

When I had a leak in my flat, the company that installed dehumidifiers and fans actually had a sheet with all the electricity figures worked out; all I had to do was send that to the insurers and they paid out.

just had the insurance accessor out so now we are just waitng for the place to dry out so the work can be done.New flooing, wood bath panel,3ft of tiles to be pulled off the wall and plasterboard to be renewed and totoally re decorated.
What i did just find out also was that the company assigned to do the clean up was meant to take away all the wet stuff and get it cleaned or add to the insurance which they never so thats another bill going in for the insurance as we had to launder all the towels etc that was used to clear the water up
