You're gonna need to carry passengers with you every time you drive your truck, to keep watch on all the extra gauges, otherwise you won't be looking where you're going half the time!

And then keep a few extra batteries in yer boot for the extra current useage. Itll be like blackpool in there before long

There is a light on your dash, says A/T Temp, and comes on when your A/T fluid gets to what Toyota considers to hot. I'd go with that.



Looks good Ian, I thought about doing that when the Bullet used to get hot towing, but since I binned the A/T fluid from the radiator completely and got a stand alone cooler, we've not had any getting hot issues trailering other Surfs, so not going to bother now.

i was intending to run it through the existing "rad" and then through the new one but do you think it'll make it too cool? probably trial and error eh?
i just have to drain the front and pipe it up, made these fittings so i can drop the bash plate (not that it'll ever get bashed i hope) without looseing oil,

I always like to have a back up. I have cooked a couple of Fords over the years when the temp gauge went to sitting at 2/3 on the gauge it was already too late.

It's always a worry I have been pulling some heavy timber lately out of the hill side with the old truck.

If you recon the warning light is sufficient I'll stick with it.

Yeah, we always say run it through a Aux cooler first, this will take the extreme heat out of it, then run it through the main rad, so if you over cool it, the coolant will warm it back to what Toyota designed it to run at.

But the Bullet was still getting hot (only really when towing other Surfs on a big heavy car trailer, which is way over what its supposed to tow, so not really a issue for most people to worry about!!!) so we've been using a B&M Supercooler that designed to cool a Small Block Chevy tranny on its own, and its been fine. You can (and you probably would! ) plumb thermostats and bypasses for when its cold, but I don't think its really a problem, and the Bullets has been fine for the last year that we've been running it like it, with it completely out of the main rad.

JB forgot to say,, dont pay more than £12 for em, their always relisting, i chose these as although there 60mm as opposed to the normal 52mm there only 28mm deep which was ideal as there was'nt much room in the pod i made, on the door,
