4ton pulling capacity should be ok for my surf unless its vertical!!
    Or have I missed something?

    not much cable on it...
and remember you'll be pulling the weight of the surf + whatever it's stuck against, if say, it's stuck in ruts so you'll want something quite meaty... and it it does snap, the cable will have a huge recoil which won't be nice if you're leaning uver pumping by hand!

Always had one in the pickup, but never used it, only a short reach is a big down side, and you will need plenty of other rope/strops.

Better then nothing, but I'd spend the extra on a Tirfor if you want a hand winch.

only trouble with a tirfor is, they make my mate dave really tired and hurt his arm!

Could have been worse! might have been your arm!

I've helped tow a LR about 100yds with one of them, it was in deep ruts sitting in its diffs on rock hard ground!

****** hard work!!!!! but did the job. But REALLY hard work!!!!!!!!!!

Then I went back, jumped in the pickup and drove up the ruts to where he was stuck again! :smug snigger:
