i was brought up in pubs, my father being a landlord,(in northamptonshire) have tried most alcoholic drinks and from most brewerys, but since settling in gloucestershire i have found that cider is a much under rated drink by most of the populace, i get some good scrumpy that is mixed (dry/sweet) to my taste that is 7% proof and is like nectar from the gods, note must pick up another gallon this weekend i know its not beer but it sustained most of the farm workers during their working lives.
