  • 1992 LN130 Auto or manual for 4WD?

Have just purchased an Automatic LN130 and now been told that for proper 4WD work, I should have bought a manual. True?

Manual vs Auto is always a compromise.

      Manual Pros:
      - Light
      - Simple
      - Fuel Efficient
      - Cheaper (to manufacture)

      Auto Pros:
      - Huge pulling force
      - Constant drive (a great advantage in sand and mud)
      - No clutch to wear out
      - You know when you buy a used one that the engine won't have been thrashed or laboured
      - Lazyness!

AUTO is best as you can have a cuppa coffee in one hand go full pace, and do tricky offroadin all at once, (providing your happy with coffee on you.)

i've had an auto and now got a manual think its personal preference
but i prefer the manual the biggest difference is in the fuel economy?
about 18mpg with 33x12.5x15 in an auto 25+ in manual with 33x12.5x15

My V6 petrol is an auto and I love it…… I mean who in their right mind would want a manual with all that pedal pushing and waddling levers around… why make work for yourself autos are great to drive on and off road
Mine WAS a 150 bhp V6 and ran on PETROL

Have to say have just swapped from Manual to Auto , The Auto is far superior !
Fuel consumption is up to you and how you drive

But you really should have got a 3rd Gen

As far as offroad, a torque converter is your best friend. it can cover a multitude of errors!

                            try this in a manual:

place left foot on brake a little, right foot on accellerator in L
watch as both back wheels spin, make smoke.. and when its wet do donuts
cant do that in a manual mate!

what about if for some reason you get stuck... then eventually get out after a lot of flaffing back and forward, and lightly on the throttle so you dont dig holes..

now you find the manual has no clutch left on it and the auto is the same condition it was at the point before it got stuck!
so in this case, autos are about £1000 cheaper! LOL
                            Oh Nana, what's my name?
