HI guys/gals, i am new to the forum. I take delivery of my '93 2.4TD surf on sunday(all being well) -see pic. So I will more than likely be on here a fair bit.

The surf-
My surf arrived in the UK last week and has no history with it, so i am assuming nothing has been done, it has 100k km on the clock and is absolutley spotless and i mean spotless no rusty fasteners, even the chasis is still in perfect condition-just a littledust. Paint is immaculate and it drives like a dream.

Does anyone have advice as to what needs doing with my surf to keep my life relatively trouble free, i am going to be booking it in for a full service with full fluid changes and new timing belt next week with the toyota main dealer who say they are happy to carryout the work(for a large fee i might add)- but i want the job done properly and i have used them in the past.

Also has anyone used one of the turbo management systems-if so are they any good?
And any reccomendations for tyres as i reckon they will need changing soon?

i cant give you a lot of advise as iam new here to, not even got my surf yet, but i can welcome you like i was by others when i entered into the world of surf!! plenty of advise already about if you have a good look through the site..hope your new surf goes well and you enjoy...c u from notts, nice part of the world. lived in mansfeid for many years. is it still a good place to go out and enjoy the night life????...................... .........

Fluid changes as you have already undertaken to do and cam belt.
Oil changes are recommended every 3000 miles then filter every 6000 but most reckon for the cost you should change the filter every time you do the oil.
Keep all the u/v joints etc greased.

One thing I just did and found to be very beneficial which often gets forgotten on a service, spray some spray grease on all the door hinges and stays. Might not keep the car on the road any longer, however they are quite heavy doors and would wear out the hinges pretty quick if un-lubed. And hinges are not that easy to change and get right.

Cheers guys, i am pretty fanatical when it comes to oil changes/maintenance and i always change the filter at the same time and it usually gets done every 2-3k miles on my other car/bike anyway.

Cheers for the advice on the door hinges & u/v joints i will make sure they get done (would i be right in saying that all the u/v joints have grease nipples?)
