heres the full story..don't fall asleep, mrs b uses our laptop from tme to time during the day, usually unplugged and running from battery power, yesterday she told me it keeps completely shutting down randomly during writing emails, surfing etc (it's only 16 months old) i come home try it under battery power and it's fine, as soon as i run it from the mains in the lounge it shuts down BUT if i run it from mains elsewhere it seems fine !!! could i have a "surge" or something from a socket ?? - seems weird, wish i had noticed it BEFORE i had done a complete facory restore and then discovered i have lost my office disk - poo
could i have a "surge" or something from a socket ??
Doubtful. Switch mode P.S.U's have a very broad range of what they'll work with, input voltage wise, so it would have to be phenomenally low or somewhat high to cause that type of problem.
